Aniekan Udofia

Striking the paper with detailed texture and contour light years ahead of his time, illustrator Aniekan Udofia’s works ignite heavy dialogue, and a broader appreciation for urban culture. A global representation of a universal environment, his illustrations are visible up and down the streets of Adams Morgan in Northwest Washington, D.C. Since his departure from Nigeria, Udofia has created designs for And 1, an urban athletic wear company, which is scheduled to debut in their fall 2004 line. He is also the premiere artist for the Native tongue Urban Apparel line based in Washington, D.C. under the guide of Aaron Johnson, owner of the Unitees t-shirt printing company.
In addition, Udofia’s works have been featured in various urban publications such as XXL, Rime, Elemental and Frank 151. He also designed covers for hip hop artists such as Critically Acclaimed’s CD single entitled, “Road Trip”, Flex Mathew’s CD entitled, “The Handsome Grandson” and the cover for author Brandy Forte’s book entitled Half Chicken Half Scholar.
As a result of artistic accomplishments, Udofia coins the philosophy, “You can succeed despite where people think you’re going. It’s not about being brilliant but it’s about the passion intensity and the drive behind whatever it is you’re doing.”
