DJ 2 ToneJones

Since touching down in the nations capitol in 2000 via Atlanta, Georgia, DJ 2 Tone- Jones has slowly and steadily been carving out his own niche in the D.C. area hip-hop scene. A true fundamentals DJ, 2-Tone speaks with his hands as in the tradition of a Premier or Jazzy Jeff, and through his bottomless crates has rocked parties up and down the east coast from as far north as NYC and as far south as ATL. But 2-Tone is not your one dimensional party and bullsh*t DJ. His list of current gigs and artists with whom he has spun is as diverse as the musical genres within his collection of records; which is a sonic collage of dusty groove Funk, Soul, Afro-Beat, Jazz, Roots Reggae/Dancehall, mainstream Rap/R&B, Go-Go (can’t forget that), Hip-Hop, Lounge/Deep House and 70’s & 80’s Rock. On the performance side 2-Tone has spun for/ with the likes of Tame One (formerly of the artifacts), Asheru, Mista Sinista (formerly of the X-ecutioners), Mr. Lif, The Vinyl Junkies, Critically Acclaimed, Priest Da Nomad, Storm Da Unpredictable, and a mix of D.C. legends and mainstays. Currently 2-Tone can be found on most nights of the week at a number of venues around the D.C. area, and on the airwaves. Every Tuesday night from 11pm to midnight 2-Tone spins for the newly resurrected hip-radio show Decipher on WPFW 89.3 FM, D.C.’s only independently run radio station. Every last Wednesday of the month at the Blue Room Lounge in Adams Morgan, 2-Tone and crew host Stress Relief, a visual arts exhibition.
